This is a blog of my journey to proprietary free software environment for my notebook. I am an Open Source Software fan and supporter, and by having this blog, I will share my experiences on using the best free and open source software in your day-in, day-out using your computer.
Materials and methods:
I will get all the open source softwares from Sourceforge.net, the best place to look for an open source softwares, download it in my notebook, install it in my dedicated hard disk, and use the software for at least 3 days before I write about the software. All my experiences on using the software from start to finish will be written in this blog, albeit positive or negative.
*****
Bare in mind that I am not a geek. I am just an ordinary computer user. So, the review that you will get is from an end user point of view. My review is not an EXPERT review.
If we have a similar mindset about open source, I would suggest that you go to SourceForge.net directly and try the softwares yourself. It may occupies your time figuring the way out using the software, but you may save some money by not paying for proprietary softwares. By doing that, you also contribute to the open source software development.
I must emphasize that Open Source Software will not be able to replace all your proprietary softwares, but still, it is a good options for most major softwares on your daily computer usage.
See you in the open source community!
